U.S. POTATO STOCKS DOWN 6%

N.A.S.S. FIGURES SHOW SPUDS IN STORAGE ACCOUNTED FOR 31% OF 2024 PRODUCTION

POTATO stocks in the USA are down 6% from April last year, according to latest statistics from the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Potatoes held in storage on April 1st this year amounted to 131 million cwt and accounted for 31% of the 2024 production. This was the same as the previous year.

The indicated season-to-date disappearance, at 290 million cwt, was down 4% from the same period last year. Season to date shrink and loss, at 20.9 million cwt, was down 2% from the same time last year. Processors in the eight States used 147 million cwt of potatoes for the season, down 5% from April 2024.
