Last chance to take potato industry survey

Data gathered will be used to identify where most help is needed within British potato growing and supply – call goes out for more to take part.

AFTER several years of cost volatility, changing market conditions and increasing scrutiny around sustainability and environmental performance, GB Potatoes believes now is a crucial time to capture data on both confidence and production in the British potato industry, helping the sector to identify where collaboration and targeted investment can deliver the greatest impact.

GB Potatoes’ Confidence and Production Survey is open to the entire GB potato industry, specifically targeting growers. It aims to establish a national picture of grower confidence, production hectarage, and the operational pressures (costs, labour, water availability) to inform policy, research, and investment following the disbandment of AHDB Potatoes. Those who take part will be helping to support the sector’s future, the organisation stressed.

“All the data is anonymous and results will be aggregated, so the more responses received, the stronger the evidence base for discussions with Government, and the better placed we are to ensure everyone in the supply chain is working from the same information on potato hectarage,” a spokesman stated.

Those who participate will be invited to enter a draw, at the end of the survey, to win one of four £50 vouchers. The survey is open until February 13th. The survey can be taken here.
