Call for variety development in Pakistan

THE Pakistan Agricultural Research Council's Plant Sciences Division has emphasised the need for collaborative efforts to develop potato varieties that adapt well to local conditions in Pakistan, following a recent Variety Evaluation Committee (VEC) meeting.

Four table potato varieties – Tornado, Electra, Fundago, and Rainbow – were selected from a list of 19 for commercial cultivation. They are expected to boost potato production and contribute to the country's food security.
