The UK Agri-Tech Centre has launched its new Agri-Tech Solution Sprints programme, delivering specialist support to tackle business growth challenges and move innovation closer to market more quickly.
Registrations are now open for micro, small and medium-sized businesses working in agri-tech or developing solutions that can be applied to the sector, with a working prototype or early-stage product.
The centre is particularly interested in controlled environments robotics and automation, advanced sensors AI and data systems and engineering biology. The programme is suitable for those who’ve proven a concept and now need help refining market fit, validating the solution with end-users or preparing for investment and scale.
The Agri-Tech Solution Sprints are short, intensive programmes designed to provide solutions that move an innovation from prototype to reality. Over one focussed month, UK Agri-Tech Centre specialists work directly with your team to tackle a defined technical or commercial challenge. Businesses join a one-month sprint led by UK Agri-Tech Centre specialists.
Business Development Manager at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, Michael Reardon, said: “A central challenge for all agri-tech innovators is building a commercially-robust business. Without this, agri-tech innovations just won’t achieve their potential impact on farm productivity, environmental sustainability or value chain resilience, but the agri-tech sector is a tough nut to crack – technically challenging, with complex routes to scale and adoption.
“Whilst grant funding is vital for R&D intensive innovations, it can be slow, particularly for start-ups with small teams where speed is critical and resources scarce. Our new Sprint programme looks to address that. Over the short, intensive month, we bring to bear our mix of technical experts, farming experience, facilities and a wide-ranging network, to help businesses overcome challenges that have been holding them back; providing them with powerful and timely support.”
