Children gain hands-on cooking experience and food education with potatoes

CHILDREN across Lincolnshire have been gaining hands-on cooking experience and food education with potatoes thanks to supplier Branston.

Branston sponsored the sessions and donated potatoes for this summer’s Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) a government-funded programme run by Lincolnshire County Council across the north of Lincolnshire and Gainsborough providing free holiday clubs for children in reception to Year 11 in place of free school meals during the school holidays.

During the sessions, children created their own frittata and potato salads, following recipes created by Helen Walker owner of Cook Stars Lincoln North & Gainsborough. They also took home recipe cards featuring baby potatoes.
