OMEX Agriculture has invested in a new purpose-built liquid fertiliser distribution facility at Portbury, Bristol, which will support potato growers in western UK, which homes key early-crop and new potato production areas.
The new multi-million-pound facility will triple storage capacity, quadruple load-out capability and provide 24-hour operational support to growers, according to the manufacturer.
The new site provides eight times daily loading capacity of the existing facility through a combination of increased load-out points and 24-hour operation, offering fertiliser when growers need it most. The new site also boasts technology capable of halving load out times and removing processes to further speed up farm delivery.
Managing Director Sam Bell said: “By increasing storage capacity, expanding load-out capability and introducing round-the-clock operations, we are investing in a more efficient and resilient supply chain that will help support the continued growth of agriculture across the region. We understand that reliability, responsiveness and security of supply are important to farmers and this investment reflects our commitment to delivering on these core principles.” The development forms part of OMEX’s ongoing investment in its UK and Ireland distribution network.
