New look for new year!

Magazine, show and awards scheme all adopt new branding for 2024.

POTATO Review will have a new look for the new year, along with the National Potato Industry Awards and British Potato Show, both of which took place in Harrogate last month.

All will now come together under a ‘British Potato’ brand, with the magazine being newly-named ‘British Potato Review’, the awards becoming the ‘British Potato Industry Awards’ and the show becoming ‘British Potato Industry Event’.

Owner of the magazine, Warners Group Publications, purchased the show earlier in 2023, following a decision by previous owner Steve Wellbeloved to take a well-earned step back, having organised it for many years.

“Having been media partner of the show for several years, we were keen to ensure it stayed true to its roots and continued to focus on the British potato industry, its suppliers and partners. As another established British business, which is still family-owned, we believed we could ensure the show retained its core values, while bringing our own experience in the British potato sector to the table,” the new owners said.

The purchase followed the launch of the National Potato Industry Awards in 2018, and the appointment of its current Editor, Stephanie Cornwall, the same year.

Since then, the magazine has doubled in size and content, and the awards, which are held every two years on the first night of the British Potato Show (BP) have also continued to evolve, with new categories being launched for the 2023 event and ongoing enhancements planned for future events to ensure relevance and ease of entry, following feedback from judges and entrants. 

Bringing the magazine, show and awards event “under one roof” will help to strengthen the position and offering of all three, while creating new opportunities for its readers and those attending the events, the owners have stated.

“We’re proud of our own British heritage and the longstanding relationships we have with our own suppliers and partners, so carrying the baton for British Potato Industry Event enables us to share that. Having a magazine, show and awards scheme all dedicated to those in the British potato industry is something we’re very proud of, and the new branding reflects that.”

The new branding will be introduced early in 2024, with a new website being launched where visitors will be able to find information on the magazine and both events in one place.
